Christians across the board tend to preach more about the end times and loose sight of what is important. Similarly archaeologist have been looking for tombs inside the Mayan Temples, rather than looking at the evidence that is there.
Archaeologist Emiliano Gallaga said the tomb found in or near the Mesoamerica pyramid dates between 500 and 700BC. It may be note worthy that the cities that where abbandoned during the first dynasty have never had tumbs discovered within the temples. Which further supports the Mormon naritive that these are in fact tribe of Israel.
The dates mach up with the Hebrew migration west that is talked about in the Book of Mormon. If you recall the Hebrew people were Egyptian property for a time and the pyramids in South America may be evidence of that migration. Seems how the Natives have the same Mongloid skeletal structure a person from the Middle East the migration theory seems to hold water.
Civilizations like the Olmec, Maya, Aztec and Inca all built pyramids to house their deities, as well as to bury their kings. In many of their great city-states, temple-pyramids formed the center of public life and were the site of much holy ritual, including human sacrifice. At least in the later dynasties. However, the book of Mormon does talk about time of righteousness and sorrows.
At and around 500 BC, the theology of these exstremely advanced cultures was much more closely related to the Christians then any other religion.
Here are some things that Academia loves to ignore becouse it supports the Mormon theses.
- The Sun they worshiped brings life to the world with its light. Jesus is called the Light of the World and according to Mormon mythology He visits the Americas around 500 BC the same time frame that these empires came on the scene.
- Simular to the Christians who believe that one God is everywhere, the Natives of the Southern American culture addopted a Polytheism that claims that everything is a form of God.
- Itzamna, Kukulcan, Ahpuch and Jaue Kax, are the four main Gods of Central America as depicted in the image below. These deities represent the four corners of the world in which they live. Just like the Bible talks about the angels of the four winds found in Revolution 7:1.
These are just examples that could only happen if there was an outside influence. Four example Cortez landing on their Shores and introducing death into the theology or Jesus visiting the Americas and talking about life.
Itzamna the Sun god who is also know in the Mayan narrative as the One who brings food, sacrifices himself to the underworld every evening so the souls of the living can return to their crops the next morning. Does this sound fimilar? It was not until a Spanish munk who accompanied Cortez, introduced the Mass to the Natives that the role of sacrifice gained prominence in the theology of the later dynasties. Before that the focas was on life.
